Rash!!!

Rash has been Brianna's enemy for the last week. She is very irritated by it and I'm irritated just looking at it. It drives me crazy to see her pretty little face smothered with this awful rash. Below is a picture that was taken today and we were headed out the door to the M.D.s office. I was told that the rash is normal and occurs in infants. The doctor also said that it should be gone by this weekend, which I doubt. Madison was 6 weeks old when she had the exact same looking rash and her pediatrician said it was due to asthma, allergies and prescribed her an ointment. So I'm going to look more into this 'normal' rash because it looks terrible. But she now weighs 10 lbs. 6 oz. and has only grown 3/4 inches.

This is what Bree looked like 4 days ago. Everyday, she gets more rash on her face. Above is her 'life is tough' expression. :0)
I told my sister, Victoria, that I would post a picture of Brianna's bedding. She loves to sleep in her crib. At first, we were utilizing her pack-n-play/ bassinet, which she liked to sleep in. One night, Jon decided to put her on her crib mattress and she slept for a long time. So she now cries when we put her in her pack-n-play.
Here's my little princess taking a picture of herself. She did a really good job.
This past weekend, my brother in-law, Jeff, and his girlfriend Whitney came to visit and slept over at our house. It was really nice to see them and I'm glad they got to meet Brianna. Maddie had a good time playing and being silly with Uncle Jeff. Below, Bree is sound a sleep in Jeff's arms. He is definitely hired for baby duty.

Tummy Time & Sister Bonding

Finally, I have some time to post a few pictures of my gorgeous girls. Madison has been adjusting great to all the new changes that have occurred since Brianna has arrived. She is without a doubt an AWESOME big sister. She has not shown any negativity towards Bree and always wants to help. When Bree cries, she is at her beckon call trying to soothe her and help her to calm down. She told me that since she is my sweetheart, Brianna is now her sweetheart. Brianna's eyes follow Maddie everywhere she goes.

Brianna is 3 weeks old today. Her features have changed but not too much. She LOVES to eat and is a pretty good sleeper. She has had a few fussy days but overall, Bree is a good baby. When she was first born, she looked a lot like Maddie with the exception of her dark hair and her skin is tanned. I still think she looks like Maddie but has her own look to her as well. I think she is going to be more tanned than Madison but not as dark as me. As for her eyes, we're still waiting to see what color they'll be. When Madison was born, her eyes were so dark but when she turned 3 months old, she got her blue eyes. So we'll have to see what's in store for Brianna. I posted a few pictures of the girls. Enjoy.

It's hard for me to catch Brianna awake. She's asleep in most of the pictures I have of her. I just love her chubby cheeks.

Brianna likes to lay on Maddie's bed. Sometimes when she's fussy, I go lay her with Maddie and she stops crying.
Bree wasn't in the mood for tummy time. She's usually content because she likes to be on her tummy but she wasn't having it yesterday. Big sister Maddie is giving her words of encouragement. :0)
Maddie is always playing the guitar for Brianna especially when she is being fussy. She makes up lullabies to sing to her baby sister. As you can see, Bree is sound asleep. Thanks Maddie. Below is a picture of my princess.

Brianna Isabella Lujan

Hey Everyone! Our newest member of the Lujan Familia has finally arrived. Although we were not expecting her for another week or so, we are beyond excitement that she is here. I will spare you all the labor details. On July 13, I began contracting about every 45 mins at 1:00 a.m. By 4:00 p.m. I was contracting every 9 mins. So I finally decided to tell Jon that "It's time". We arrived at the hospital and were checked in by 6:30 p.m. I was already 8 cm dilated. After all the pain and with the support of my loving husband, we welcomed our sweet little girl. Here's her stats:
Brianna Isabella Lujan
Born: July 13, 2009 at 11:08 p.m.
Weighed: 7lbs. 7 oz. 20 in.
Proud Daddy & Mommy: Jon & Terri
Proud Sister: Madison

Since siblings were the only ones allowed to see the baby after she was born, Maddie got to see her sister at midnight since she was still bouncing off the walls and we only live 2 mins away from the hospital. I was really excited to see her especially since she was upset that we had to leave her to go the hospital. The look on her face when she saw Brianna for the first time was PRICELESS. Her eyes lit up and as she bent over into her bed, Maddie whispered: 'Hey Brianna, what's up?' It was sooo cute. Then she held and cradled her. It was sad to see her leave because she has never spent a night away from Jon and I. She kept coming back to kiss me good-bye. Below are a couple of pictures. Hope you all enjoy.

Just a few minutes old.
Getting weighed in. She was not a happy camper.

Brianna sure does love to eat her hands and suck her fingers. We kind of figured that because we would see her in our ultrasound videos. I have to wrestle her hands out of her mouth in order to feed her.
The proudest and best big sister.
Finally, on our way home.

We hope everyone is doing well. I will post some more updates on Brianna and her developments.

Farmers Market

Hopefully everyone is doing well. As for us, not much has been going on. We've just been hanging out and Jon has been doing major house adjustments to prepare for our little Brianna Isabella or vice versa. He's done such an AWESOME job and there's not enough words to express how grateful I am for him. Maddie had her toddler bed taken out of her room and now she has a nice comfy full-size bed. She has the best bed in the house. We bought the baby's crib a few weeks ago and Jon is so anxious to put it up. Other than that, not much has been going on. Maddie is still continuing to learn/spell more 3-letter words and of course, her intelligence is beyond an average 2 year old. She is such a smart cookie. We are so proud of her. She is constantly telling us how she can't wait for her baby sister to come followed by a list of events that are occurring the day her sister is born. I posted some pictures of Madison at the Farmers market. Our main attraction is the carousel, kettle corn and the fire truck. Above, Madison and her best buddy, Max are waiting for the carousel to start.

Her all-time favorite moment: pretending to drive the fire truck. Her new theory is being that she is out growing naps, she is old enough to drive daddy's car. We didn't expect to hear those words for another 13-14 years.

Overall, my bump is very huge but we're all doing well. I feel great and we're all getting more excited and anxious as the time of our baby arrival is approaching.

Busy, Busy, Busy!!!!

These past few weeks have quite busy for The Lujan Family. We had visitors 2 weeks in a row, a baby shower, and last week we hung out with my sister in-laws who were visiting from Utah and Jon's aunts: Letta and Janette. We also went down south for my grandparents 59th wedding anniversary party. I just want to say Thank you to aunt Letta for taking me to have a surprise pedicure. I've never had one before because I'm a little weirded out about having someone touch my feet. But after this, I surely will not have a problem going back. Not only did I have my toes done but I got a foot and back massage. It was WONDERFUL!!!!!!! Finally, a weekend of rest. But we've had so much fun with everyone and being able to visit with family. Aside from our busy schedule, Maddie has been learning how to spell 3 letter words. Her favorite words right now are: mom, dad, cat, dog, pig and cow. She can spell them on her own and can recognize them in books or her flashcards. She is growing up too fast on us and of course, I'm sad but yet I'm beyond proud of her. Madison is such an amazing and smart little girl. I just love her to pieces!!! She's getting very anxious for the arrival of her sister and more so because we've been going through hundreds of boxes of her old clothes and getting ready to work on her nursery. Although Maddie had a ton of clothes that she only wore about twice and maybe not even that, our new baby doesn't need anything except a few minor things. But since I have a shopping fetish, I can't help myself. Maddie and I have been shopping like crazy and of course, she's been getting new stuff, too. It feels so weird to be shopping for 2 kids. We've even shopped for diapers already because I'm trying to get a head start. We're excited about getting the nursery started. Her room is going to be sage green, pink and a touch of chocolate brown. Jon picked out her bedding and I love it. We'll post pictures when this nursery project is all said and done.
Below are a few pictures that were taken in the last few weeks.

My little smiley face.
Lisa, Ruthann, Angela and Maddie. Thanks again Angela for staying with us. It was nice to have you and you surely made Maddie's day. We miss you! Also, thank you for the awesome baby blanket and the matching burp cloths you made for our new little one. We always enjoy all the homemade goodies. They're the best!!!
Maddie and her Nana (my mom) before leaving to Pappo and Abuelita's surprise party.
My little brother Joseph who looked handsome and sharp.
Here's our funny family portrait. Maddie didn't want to leave the dance floor for the picture so she decided to act like a stinker.
This picture came out blurry but she was shaking her groove thing out there. She loves to sing and dance. I'm a little bummed because I didn't get any pictures of my grandparents or other relatives. During the first hour of our arrival, Maddie slipped and fell outside which resulted in a really bad bloody nose. By the looks of it, we were sure she had a broken nose or would end up with some type of damage. Thank goodness she was alright and just had a minor scrape on her nose. Since we had to leave to get her cleaned up, we missed dinner, speeches that were said for my grandparents and family pictures. But is was nice to visit with everyone.

Baby Bump

Finally, here is my baby bump at 25 weeks. I'm a lot bigger with this baby girl. I was smaller than this when I gave birth to my little Madison. I've lost 14 lbs and barely gained 3 lbs back. During the first 4 months of my pregnancy with Maddie, I lost 18 lbs but then during the last 4 1/2, I gained all 18 back. I'm thinking I'm going to break even again- we'll see.

Maddie and Jon love to rub my belly and our little one moves wherever their hands move. She is a mover and a shaker. She is constantly moving all over the place.

After months of trying to find a name for our newest addition, I think we finally came up with one. We always knew Madison would be a Madison but this time around was challenging. So a few weeks ago, Jon came up with Brianna and I really like Isabella. Maddie is somewhat over Emma which was starting to grow on me. So now our battle is over whose name will be the first name and which is going to be the middle name. Awwwww!

We've done some shopping and Madison has been so excited because we buy the clothes and blankets that she picks out. We bought her bedding and we're going to start her nursery, which is going to be lady bugs, flowers and butterflies, in the next month or so. I can't believe she is going to be here in a few short months. It doesn't feel like I've been pregnant for 6 months. We're so anxious for her arrival and to see how Madison is going to react towards her.

Happy Easter

We hope you all had a very nice Easter. Our day was very nice and relaxing. My best-friend came to visit us for the weekend and we had such a great time. We've had quite a few visitors within the last month. My sister, brothers and mom paid me a surprise visit on my birthday a month ago and Auntie came to visit us a week ago. We had such a great time with everyone and of course, it's always hard to say good bye. This was the first Easter I spent without my family but our day turned out to be nice and quite. I thought Maddie would have a boring time hunting for eggs by herself but she didn't seem to mind. She had a very fun time hunting for all those eggs. We just want to say Thank you to everyone who got Maddie an Easter basket. We really appreciate everything. She got a new garden bag for all her new garden tools, books, bubbles, hair bows, money for her piggy bank, yo-yo, frisbees and of course, candy!!!!! Also, our new baby received 2 baskets filled with onsies, bibs, a blanket, shoes and socks. It was fun to see tiny clothes again.

Madison coloring Easter eggs. After a few, she lost interest and I ended up finishing the project.
On Saturday, we went to an Easter egg hunt at Maga and Grandpa's house. Maddie is a good egg hunter but once she discovered there was candy inside the eggs, it was all over.

After a long egg hunt, Maddie and Daddy took a breather.
On Sunday morning, Jon and I hid her basket so when she woke up, the hunt was on.
After her bath on Sunday night, we did one last egg hunt in the house.
These Sesame Street toy figurines came inside some large. She was so excited that Elmo was hiding inside her eggs. Finally, we got to sit down, put our feet up and just relax. We had such a great day and it was beyond fun watching Madison egg hunt and enjoy herself. Hope you all had a fun day.
